Welcome

My name is Ivy Fua and I am a Pediatric Dentist based out of Los Angeles, California. I am a mother to a toddler expecting a baby Boy in June 2021.. I have been married to the love of my life, Sione, since July 2012.

I started this page to spread reliable information about pediatric dentistry and health from a pediatric dentist and mother’s perspective. I have many interests that I plan on sharing including motherhood, travel, event planning, education and married life. Let me know if you would like to talk about anything specific here.

I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and received my bachelors of science from UC Santa Cruz. I completed a post-baccalaureate program from UCSF and UC Berkeley followed by dental school at UC San Francisco. I completed my training in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Southern California in addition to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). I completed a fellowship in leadership training in neurodevelopmental disorders in children (CA-LEND through CHLA). I practice in Burbank, CA at my practice, Grin Garden

  1. What’s the difference between a pediatric dentist and general dentist?

    A pediatric dentist goes to dental school followed by 2-3 years of speciality training in pediatric dentsitry focusing on treating children and children with special needs. We learn a lot about pediatric dentistry that is not generally taught in dental school. Pediatric dentist tend to treat children ages 0-18 and some adults with special needs. General dentists treat all ages.

    Not at the moment, hope to open in the future!

  4. How long did you go to school for?

    College for 4 years, post-baccalaureate program for 1 year, dental school for 4 years, pediatric dentistry residency for 2 years, total of 11 years after high school.

  5. Where did you go to dental school?

    I went to dental school at UC San Francisco (UCSF) in San Francisco, CA

  6. How did you know you wanted to be a dentist?

    I had a great mentor growing up and fell in love my ortho experience in high school. I then realized i had to go to dental school first. I changed my mind in dental school and decided I wanted to be a pediatric dentist.

  7. What is your nationality?

    My mother is Colombian and my father is Armenian

  8. Do you speak any other languages?

    I speak Spanish fluently and understand/speak conversational Armenian

  9. How long have you been married?

    My husband and I were married July 13, 2012

  10. Do you have kids?

    I am expecting a son!
